PhD dissertation title: “Reading greek television series through the social media lens. Theoretical and pragmatic approaches of intermediality in the case of television fiction”

Mr. Nikolaos Malamas was born and raised in Larissa. He graduated the Faculty of Law of the Democritus University of Thrace with a grade of 6.224 ("Good") and the Masters of Arts Program "New Media and Journalism" of the Department of Media Communication and Culture of Panteion University, with a grade of 8.45 ("Excellent"), in the context of which he prepared a diploma thesis on "The strategic rebranding of Television Networks. The example of Open Beyond TV".


Since March 2021, he is a PhD candidate at the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University, preparing a doctoral thesis, which expects to define, in the modern terms of social media, the close relationship and intermediation between television fiction and social media. His main research interests, in the context of this study, are the modern form of greek television fiction, the greek online fan communities, the online communication codes of the communities, the formation of pop culture and the next day of the media.

He has worked for a number of years in regional media (newspapers and radio). He has been a member of organizational and management teams for European Youth in Action programs (now Erasmus+) in Greece. He has been a speaker and moderator of a conference-open discussion about the development model, the importance of Education, Culture and Media in upgrading the area and the Intercultural character of Thrace.

Since the Academic year 2021-2022 he is a collaborator of the Journalism Laboratory course VIII: "Television genres, analysis and production of audiovisual content" of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University.
