PhD dissertation title: "Public Policies and Tourism - The Case of the South Aegean Region"

Dimitris Gartzonis was born in Xanthi and raised in Stuttgart Germany. He graduated from the Greek High School in Stuttgart and then continued his studies in the Department of Journalism and Media at the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki in Greece where he graduated in 2003. He presently lives in Rhodes and from the period of 2006-2015 has worked for the local daily newspapers “Proodos” and “Drasis”. He presently is employed by the daily newspaper “Dimokratiki” and is a member of the Union of District Journalists. As a specialized colleague of the vice-Governor of Tourism M. Papavasileiou, he has undertaken the responsibility of the communication of the activities of the Department of Tourism in the South Aegean Region.
He is also a member of the organizing committee and the communication team of the International Marathon of Rhodes. He holds a Master’s degree in “New forms of learning and education” from the University of the Aegean, Department of Preschool Education and Educational Design. His doctoral dissertation titled "Public Policies and Tourism - The Case of the South Aegean Region" is being studied the Panteion University, Department of Media and Culture of, and is being supervised by Associate Professor, Marianna Psylla. The research focuses on the policy-making process implemented by South Aegean Region as a public sector for the promotion and development of tourism in the South Aegean, in this Greek touristic region. As a member of the organizing committee, he has worked in organizing scientific conferences and seminars in the Dodecanese with the main subject being tourism. He has also participated as a speaker at conferences in Greece.
