PhD dissertation title: "Digital games development and Cultural policy: A study on Mediterranean digital games"

Maximos S. Theodoropoulos lives in Athens, where he was born as well. In 2015 he completed his studies at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, in the Faculty of School of Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a grade "Very Good" (7,98). Subsequently, he received his master’s degree (M. Sc) in Cultural Management of Panteion University, with a grade "Excellent" (8,92). His postgraduate diploma thesis was titled “The Creation and the Development of digital games in Greece”.
Since January 2020, he has been conducting his PhD research at the Department of Communication, Media, and Culture at Panteion, with the temporary title “Digital games development and Cultural policy: A study on Mediterranean digital games”. His main research interests focus on the contemporary trends of digital games industry, the national/local digital games development, the media convergence, the digitation of cultural production and on issues of cultural policy involvement in the audiovisual sector.
On July 2020 he participated in the international conference “Spelunking 2020: Games, Cultures, Societies” (organization: University of York, York, UK), with a paper titled “Making a ‘scene’: The ascent of game development in Greece during the financial crisis”. Furthermore, on July 2021 he will participate in the international conference “Histories of Women in Film and Television: Then and Now” (organization: Women’s Film & Television History Network / Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland), with a paper titled “From Being Heard to Being Seen: Female Creative Workers in the Greek Digital Audiovisual Sector”.
