Katerina Sergidou grew up in Cyprus and lives in Athens. She studied History at the Department of History-Archaeology of the School of Philosophy in Athens. She completed her MA at the department of Communication, Media and Culture, conducting ethnographic research in the city of Cádiz.

Since May 2017 she has been elaborating a jointly supervised (cotutelle) doctoral dissertation at the Department of Communication Media and Culture and the Department of Social Anthropology and Philosophy of Values of the University of the Basque Country (UPV) - doctoral program of Feminist and Gender Studies as a fellow of the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) of Greece. Her thesis supervisor at Panteion University is Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary History Chryssanti Avlami and Associate Professor of Social Anthropology Margaret Bullen at UPV

Her ethnography is on women´s participation in the carnival of Cádiz (Andalucía). She has undertaken research in Greece and the Spanish State, which has resulted to several journal articles, co-editing books, presence in international conferences and public writing. Her research interests include contemporary carnival festivities, feminist methodologies in social research, feminist writing, the concept of feminist hegemony, feminist art and protest. She is also a member of the editorial committee of the journal Entanglements experiments in multimodal ethnography, the academic journal Πόλις Άπολις, the literary journal Marginalia and she is editor in chief of the book series “Critical Research” by the publishing house redmarks. She is engaged in Oral History research as a member of OPIFEMIN, an oral history group, and she is currently working as a researcher at Panteion University.
