Papakostas Ioannis

PhD dissertation title: “The conflicting landscape of the Orphans places (Refugees’ Houses and Pedion of Areos) in Alexandras Avenue”

Ioannis Papakostas was born in 1967. He has a diploma in Greek Culture of Hellenic Open University and MA in Culture Management of Panteion University.

He works in the Region of Attica at the Department of Greek Culture and Sports.

He has participated in several scientific workshops of Hellenic Open University and National Kapodistrian University of Athens and he has cooperated in the project “Domicile Life and Housing in the Cities of Topeiros Xanti, Moordorf, Odder in 19th Century” as well.

He has published academic articles and works in https://www.academia.edu/ and https://www.polisapolis.gr/el/

In September of 2020 he participated in the Conference of Hellenic Sociological Society with the thesis: “The right in the conquest and in the asylum of housing”.

Currently he is working on his PhD thesis, under the supervision of Associate Professor Ms Chryssanthi Avlami, “The conflicting landscape of the Orphans places (Refugees’ Houses and Pedion of Areos) in Alexandras Avenue”.

His research interests include the geography of urban landscape, the history of social conflicts and the cultural dialogue in the cities. He is also interested in Oral History and he is a member of the group “Oral History of Petralona – Thissio in Athens”.
