Voukis Marinos

Marinos Voukis was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus. He owns a B.Sc. degree from the University of Piraeus, Greece and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from California State University, Fresno, U.S.A.


His research interests include the procedure and the advantages related to the application of Sustainability in the Higher Education Institutions (Η.Ε.Ι.).


He has participated in conferences in Europe and he has published in the daily and periodical press.


He is currently employed as a Manager in a H.E.I. while his 16-year work experience in Higher Education includes employment in H.E.I. in both Europe and U.S.A.

Malamas, Nikolaos

PhD dissertation title: “Reading greek television series through the social media lens. Theoretical and pragmatic approaches of intermediality in the case of television fiction”

Mr. Nikolaos Malamas was born and raised in Larissa. He graduated the Faculty of Law of the Democritus University of Thrace with a grade of 6.224 ("Good") and the Masters of Arts Program "New Media and Journalism" of the Department of Media Communication and Culture of Panteion University, with a grade of 8.45 ("Excellent"), in the context of which he prepared a diploma thesis on "The strategic rebranding of Television Networks. The example of Open Beyond TV".


Since March 2021, he is a PhD candidate at the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University, preparing a doctoral thesis, which expects to define, in the modern terms of social media, the close relationship and intermediation between television fiction and social media. His main research interests, in the context of this study, are the modern form of greek television fiction, the greek online fan communities, the online communication codes of the communities, the formation of pop culture and the next day of the media.

He has worked for a number of years in regional media (newspapers and radio). He has been a member of organizational and management teams for European Youth in Action programs (now Erasmus+) in Greece. He has been a speaker and moderator of a conference-open discussion about the development model, the importance of Education, Culture and Media in upgrading the area and the Intercultural character of Thrace.

Since the Academic year 2021-2022 he is a collaborator of the Journalism Laboratory course VIII: "Television genres, analysis and production of audiovisual content" of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University.

Karra Marilena

PhD dissertation title: "Towards a figural history. The notion of violence in Jean-Luc Godard's Histoire(s) du cinema"

Supervisor: Assistant Professor Chryssanthi Avlami with co-supervisor Aline Wiame (Universite Toulouse II - Jean Jaures)

 

Marilena Karra was born in Rethymno, Crete, in 1994, studied Art Theory and History at the Athens School of Fine Arts, followed by postgraduate studies at the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis on Jean-Luc Godard's Histories of Cinema (Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in co-supervision with Universite Toulouse II - Jean Jaures), while she teaches art philosophy and aesthetics courses as a teaching assistant at Universite Toulouse II - Jean Jaures and at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. Part of her research has been presented at conferences in Greece and abroad (France, Belgium, Italy, Algeria), as well as in scientific journals. From 2019 to 2022 she received the Dimitra Filippou-Elbisco Greek Culture Fellowship and from May 2022 a fellowship of the IKY.

Mari Dimitra

PhD dissertation title: "Sexism and Public Discourse – Media representations of the Greek MeToo Movement"

Dimitra Mari was born and lives in Athens. She is a graduate of the Department of Communication and Mass Media of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from where she received her first Master's degree in "Public Opinion and Public Communication" with a grade of “Excellent” (9.5). In the context of the Master's Program of Studies, she completed a diploma thesis, titled “Celebrity Politics: The case of the OBAMA 2012 Campaign”, supervised by Professor Lisa Tsaliki. In the years 2014-2015, she received her second Master's degree, in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Leeds University Business School, graduating with Honours (2:1). From 2015 to 2021, she worked in advertising and public relations, until the end of 2021, when she decided to join the Academia.

Since Demcember 2021, she is a PhD Candidate of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture. Her thesis is title is “Sexism and Public Discourse: Media Representations of the Greek MeToo Movement” supervised by the Associate Professor Ioanna Vovou. She is interested in everything about feminism and women’s movement, pop culture, political communication, social trends, gender and media studies. Since 2021 she has been a Mentor in the Marketing Connections Alumni Mentoring Scheme organized by Leeds University Business School. In September 2022, she presented her paper, “Ageing femininities in popular streaming TV series: Grace & Frankie, The Politician, And Just Like That”, at the “Emergent Femininities and Masculinities in 21st Century Media and Popular Culture” Conference, held by the Department of Communication and Mass Media of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Ο Μαρίνος Βουκής γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Λευκωσία της Κύπρου. Είναι απόφοιτος (B.Sc.) του τμήματος Οργάνωσης και Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς και κάτοχος του Μεταπτυχιακού Τίτλου στη Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων (Μ.Β.Α.) από το California State University, Fresno στις Η.Π.Α.


Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τη διαδικασία και τα πλεονεκτήματα σχετικά με την εφαρμογή της Αειφόρου Ανάπτυξης στα Ανώτατα Εκπαιδευτικά Ιδρύματα (Α.Ε.Ι.).


Έχει συμμετοχές σε συνέδρια στην Ευρώπη καθώς και δημοσιεύσεις στον ημερήσιο και περιοδικό Τύπο.


Σήμερα εργάζεται σε θέση Προϊσταμένου σε Α.Ε.Ι. ενώ η δεκαεξαετής του εργασιακή εμπειρία στην Ανώτατη Εκπαίδευση περιλαμβάνει εργοδότηση σε Α.Ε.Ι. τόσο της Ευρώπης όσο και των Η.Π.Α.

Villioti Evgenia

PhD dissertation title: “Film critics in Greece since the 1980s and their opinion-making criteria: field establishment”
Supervisor: Professor Christos Dermentzopoulos

Evgenia Villioti lives in Athens. She graduated from the Librarianship & Information Department from TEI of Athens in 2014. Her thesis was entitled “Greek prison libraries and their role in lifelong learning”. During 2017-2019 she completed the Master’s program “Cultural and cinema studies” in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her thesis was entitled “Albert Camus, "The Plague" - Kobo Abe, "The Woman in the Dunes": aspects of the surveillance society”. From 2016 to 2021 she attended the Sociology Department (BSc) in Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. Since April 2024 she is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture.

Her PhD thesis focuses in the ways and the reasons that film critics form their opinions and covers the period since the 1980s, when there’s a cultural shift Greece. It’s including printed, TV shows and other digital media that have been published in Greece since the 1980. The main goal is to showcase the social, personal and aesthetic criteria that make film critics to set trends and form opinions.

Evgenia has also attended text editing classes at IANOS. She’s a Greek native speaker and she also speaks English and Italian. She has published in a few peer-reviewed journals and has participated in scientific conferences. Her academic interests include the sociology of art, popular culture and periods of cultural shifts.

Βράιλας Γιάννης

Ο Γιάννης Βράιλας γεννήθηκε στον Πειραιά και ζει στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Ελληνικό Πολιτισμό στο Ελληνικό Ανοιχτό Πανεπιστήμιο όπου και ολοκλήρωσε το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Δημόσια Ιστορία. Επαγγελματικά δραστηριοποιείται στους χώρους της επικοινωνίας και των εκδόσεων. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα αφορούν στον δημοφιλή κινηματογράφο, τη λαϊκή κουλτούρα και την πολιτισμική ιστορία.

Η διατριβή μελετά τις κινηματογραφικές αναπαραστάσεις του αστικού χώρου της συνοικίας της Τρούμπας στις ελληνικές ταινίες μυθοπλασίας κατά τις τρεις πρώτες μεταπολεμικές δεκαετίες και τις εξετάζει ως ιστορική και μνημονική αφήγηση για τους ανθρώπους και τους χώρους των υποφωτισμένων συνοικιών του Πειραιά, εστιάζοντας το ενδιαφέρον στις σχέσεις του κοινωνικού περιθωρίου και των λαϊκών στρωμάτων της πόλης με την τοπική ελίτ και την κυρίαρχη ιδεολογία της μετεμφυλιακής περιόδου

Marazoti Michaela – Gabriela

PhD dissertation title: "Social Media and Culture in the Pandemic Period."

Michaela – Gabriela Marazoti is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of the Panteion University. She graduated of the same department and she is an honours graduate of the Hellenic Open University in the master’s program entitled "Modern Journalism Studies". As part of her master's program and her thesis, she carried out research that was focused on Citizen Journalism and its appearance in the Huffington Post, analysing all the articles published during the period of March - May 2019, which was graded as excellent.

Her research interests are Communication, New Media Journalism, Social Media, Data Science, Data Mining and Data Analysis.

She has also studied photography and she works as a professional photographer.

Ntolkou Maria

PhD dissertation title: “Visual Culture and Sports: the evolution of the Sporting Gaze”

Maria Ntolkou holds an MSc with distinction in Sports Management from the Department of Sports Organization & Management of the University of Peloponnese with undergraduate studies in Communication, Media and Culture at Panteion University and Tourism Business at University of West Attica.

Her research interests are focused on Sports and its impact on the contemporary Culture (popular culture) as well as on the creation and sharing of sports images through traditional and modern Media platforms such as Social Media. Professionally, she has been working in mid-senior positions in the Greek sports market since 2002 with many years of experience as a Marketing, Sponsorship & Communications Manager in professional football, implementing sponsorship programs for major companies. Since 2018, she has been active in the field of sports analytics, specifically in sponsorship measurement and evaluation.

She is a founding member of the Scientific Institute of Sports Management and has participated in various conferences. She has completed various online certification programs and speaks English and Italian.
